Editorial Process

Journal of Materials Education (Electronic) follows a structured editorial and peer-review process to ensure the quality, integrity, originality, and academic relevance of all published manuscripts.

After submission, each manuscript is first checked by the editorial office for completeness, journal scope, formatting, authorship information, ethical declarations, and basic submission requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope or minimum scholarly standards may be returned to the authors or declined at this stage.

The initial editorial screening is normally completed within 10 days. During this stage, the manuscript may also be checked for plagiarism, duplicate submission, inappropriate content, missing ethical information, or other publication ethics concerns.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an editor or editorial board member with suitable expertise. The editor evaluates the manuscript and invites qualified reviewers to assess its scholarly quality, originality, clarity, methodology, relevance, and contribution to materials science and engineering education.

The journal follows a single-blind peer-review process. In this process, the reviewers know the identity of the authors, but the identities of the reviewers are kept confidential. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely comments to help the editor make an informed decision.

Based on the reviewers’ reports and the editor’s assessment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions: acceptance, minor revision, major revision, resubmission after revision, or rejection. Authors receiving revision requests are expected to submit a revised manuscript along with a clear response to the reviewers’ and editor’s comments.

The full review process is normally completed within 4 months, depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the extent of revision required. The journal aims to complete the editorial process efficiently while maintaining rigorous academic and ethical standards.

After acceptance, the manuscript enters the production stage, including copyediting, formatting, proofreading, final author approval, and preparation for online publication. Accepted articles are scheduled for publication in the upcoming issue of the journal.

Journal of Materials Education (Electronic) publishes three issues annually under one volume, in April, August, and December. From 2024 onward, the journal operates as a Diamond Open Access journal and does not charge authors article processing charges or publication fees.
