Copyrights

Authors publishing in Journal of Materials Education (Electronic) retain the copyright of their published work. From 2024 onward, all articles published in the journal are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, readers and users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, share, adapt, reuse, and build upon the published work for any lawful purpose, provided that proper credit is given to the original author(s), the article title, Journal of Materials Education (Electronic), and the source of publication. Any reuse must also include a reference to the applicable license.

By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors grant Journal of Materials Education (Electronic) the right to publish the article, identify itself as the original publisher, distribute the published version, and preserve the article in electronic archives, databases, indexing services, and other scholarly platforms.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript does not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of others. Any material taken from third-party sources, including figures, tables, photographs, illustrations, maps, diagrams, questionnaires, teaching materials, datasets, software, screenshots, website content, or long text extracts, must be properly cited and used in accordance with the applicable copyright terms.

Third-party material included in an article is not automatically covered by the journal’s CC BY 4.0 license unless this is clearly stated. If third-party material is protected by copyright and is not available under a compatible open license, authors must obtain written permission from the copyright holder before submission or publication. The permission must allow the material to be reproduced in the article and made available online as part of the published work.

Authors must clearly identify third-party material in captions, acknowledgements, or notes, and must provide appropriate credit to the original source. Where material has been adapted or modified, this should be clearly stated, for example by using wording such as adapted from or modified from, together with the relevant citation and permission information.

If permission is required but cannot be obtained, the material must be removed, replaced, or redrawn in a way that does not infringe copyright. The journal may request evidence of permission at any stage of the editorial or production process.

Users who wish to reuse third-party material from articles published in Journal of Materials Education (Electronic) are responsible for checking the copyright status of that material. Where third-party material is excluded from the article’s open license, permission for reuse must be obtained directly from the original copyright holder.

The copyright and licensing policy of Journal of Materials Education (Electronic) supports open access, responsible reuse, proper attribution, and respect for the intellectual property rights of authors and third parties.
